Exclusive: Transport for NSW has capacity to run direct trains from West of Bankstown to City Circle via Regents Park (on the Inner West Line) and also to Liverpool via Sefton.

Train Plan - 20 October 2024

The official Sydney Trains and Intercity train plan for the new 2024 timetable effective from 20 October confirms that the Inner West Line group (T2 Leppington & Inner West and T3 Liverpool & Inner West) has a total of 16 of 20 possible trains per hour at Central/City Circle.

We urge the NSW Government to extend the T6 Bankstown & Lidcombe line from Lidcombe to City Circle via Inner West Line to reduce forced interchange at Lidcombe. There is capacity for 4 trains per hour on the extended T6 Line running from Bankstown to City via Regents Park.

Stations between Liverpool and Bankstown also have just up to 4 trains per hour with capacity for up to 8 additional services (as Bankstown is signalled to handle 12 trains per hour, and Leppington currently has 12 trains starting per hour).

We repeat our calls for the NSW Government to restore the direct train from Bankstown to City Circle via Regents Park (on the Inner West Line) and Bankstown to Liverpool.

Please write to Transport Minister Jo Haylen requesting an review of the train timetable in lieu of the restoring the Bankstown to City Circle via Regents Park and also the Bankstown to Liverpool train services using existing capacity on the Sydney Trains Network.

We also ask for your support in calling on the NSW Government to fast-track signalling upgrades for Western Sydney rail lines. Please join our campaign at: https://actionnetwork.org/letters/fast-track-signalling-upgrades-for-sydney-trains/
